On the King’s Birthday in June, the Crest team tied on their aprons and, atop their heads, donned a Chef’s hat to prepare for The Biggest Morning Tea the following day. Each prepared a baked good; some prepared two, to raise money for the Cancer Council.
The Biggest Morning Tea allowed the Crest team to get creative and have a lot of fun. Some of the dishes on the table were Peaches & Cream Slice, Lolly Cake, Carrot Barfi, Brazilian Chocolate Cake, and much more. We all voted on what we enjoyed the most. Coming in the number 3 spot was Chocolate Spiders, made by our senior administrator, Julie. In the number 2 position was Scones with Jam and Cream, baked by our Director, Jessica. The winner, taking the number 1 position, was a dish called Sludge. Cameron, baker, and adviser with Crest, said, “it’s part slice, part fudge, Sludge!”. Due to everyone’s involvement, we had dessert after lunch for the rest of the week.
The Cancer Council has been hosting the Biggest Morning Tea since 1993, and so far in 2024, it has raised $12,837,235, to which the Crest team contributed $1,468. Crest loves to get involved in fundraising; however, this was the first time for the Biggest Morning Tea, which was a complete success. We are all looking forward to next year’s Biggest Morning Tea to not only smash this year’s baked goods out of the water but also our donations.
