On Saturday the 4th of May, a number of Crest staff ventured out to the beautiful Hunter Valley for their annual wine tour. Our first stop was at the stunning Wandin Valley, where our host Kurt displayed his passion by treating us to an array of wines they had to offer. The Semillon Sauvignon Blanc was a crowd favourite.
Next on our itinerary was the Hunter Olive Centre, where we had the chance to taste delicious local produce including olives, spreads, and jams. Bianca learnt the valuable lesson of reading the signs before tasting, especially when it came to the extra hot sauce.
Crest next ventured to the Hunter Belle Cheese Room, located at the beautiful historic Lindeman’s Estate. Here the foodies had the opportunity to taste a variety of locally made unique cheeses.
The team at Crest then enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of the Audrey Wilkinson vineyards before beginning their second wine tasting. The 2017 Tempranillo was unanimously voted the wine of the day.
Next on the itinerary was the Hunter Resort, to kick back and enjoy some lunch. It was here that our beer connoisseurs were in their element and savored the array of light and dark craft beers on offer.
Our final destination was the Hunter Distillery, which offered a unique range of spirits including vodka, liqueurs, schnapps and for the brave few, the limited edition 68% Golden Rum.
Overall the team at Crest had a fantastic day full, of great food, great drinks, and great company. As Cameron would say “There are small ships, big ships but nothing like friendships.”
We would like to give a big shout out to the Crest Social Committee – Rebecca, Jake, and Mitchell for organising this great day. We would also like to thank our bus driver, Lucky, for making sure we arrived home safely whilst putting up with our below average singing.
